The Flavor Apprentice (TFA) is a leading producer of water-soluble flavourings.

Dragonfruit is a flexible fruit note that both tastes and binds: light tropical pitaya with juicy body, a hint of pear/kiwi and a fresh citrus edge. Widely used as an excellent emulsifier/blender to smooth acids, plump strawberries/berries and tie tropical/citrus mixes together. Use: Concentrate that must be diluted. TFA flavours are water-soluble and PG-carried; some may contain traces of ethanol. Note: We purchase in bulk and re-bottle into smaller sizes (not the original packaging).

Tips for this flavour

  • Dosing start: 6–10% standalone; 0.5–4% as an accent/blender. Higher % may go perfumey/floral.
  • Open up strawberries: 1–3% with Strawberry/Strawberry Ripe for extra juiciness.
  • Tropical bridge: link mango/pineapple/passion with lime—Dragonfruit smooths acids.
  • Lemonades/sodas: 1–2% adds body (“wetness”) and tames sharp citrus edges.
  • Fix plasticky notes: lower total %, add 0.25–0.5% Marshmallow/vanilla for softer tops.
  • Steeping: 0–3 days—best fresh; a short rest evens the mix.

FAQ

Is the flavour strong?
It’s light and juicy—more of a body/bridging note than a dominant fruit.

Does it emulsify fruits?
Yes—great at smoothing acids and tying citrus/berry/tropical mixes together.

Why do I get a perfumey edge?
Likely overdosed. Reduce %, add a touch of marshmallow/vanilla and give it a brief rest.

Good in lemonades/sodas?
Excellent—adds body without overpowering. Boost with lemon/lime for sparkle.

PG-carried and must be diluted?
Yes—water-soluble, PG-carried concentrate to be diluted in base.
