Is it the same as licorice?
Anise shares licorice-like notes but is fresher and more herbal. For deeper licorice, layer with Black Licorice.
Can it turn sharp?
Yes at high %. Keep modest; round with vanilla/cream or a touch of caramel.
Good in cola/root beer?
Excellent as a spiced top note alongside citrus and mild sweetness.
